Band leader and trad jazz specialist Charlie Halloran grew up in St. Louis, received a masters in trombone at the Eastman School of Music, and learned trampagne in New Orleans, Louisiana. In 2009 he was pulled off of a Mardi Gras float by the Squirrel Nut Zippers, with whom he traveled to parts unknown for the better part of a decade. Named to Downbeat Magazine's 2017 and 2013 Rising Stars, and one of Offbeat Magazine's best trombonists in both 2016 and 2014, Charlie keeps a busy schedule home in New Orleans, performing regularly with Meschiya Lake and the Little Big Horns, the Palmetto Bug Stompers, the Panorama Jazz Band and the Shotgun Jazz Band. Still Charlie can often be found bringing up the rear with Tuba Skinny, the Preservation Hall Allstars, and over at the Palm Court Cafe.

He is thrilled to have performed with the inimitable Allen Toussaint, beloved indie rockers the Walkmen and Calexico, as well as soul music legends the O'Jays. Charlie's Quality 6 CD was nominated in OffBeat Magazine as the best traditional jazz recording of 2016, and listed as one of the 50 best Louisiana recordings of 2016. As a sideman, Charlie has appeared on numerous recordings, including Jon Cleary's Grammy winning Go Go Juice, and more by U2, Rickie Lee Jones, John Boutte, Alex McMurray, Meschiya Lake, Panorama Jazz Band, Palmetto Bug Stompers, Shotgun Jazz Band, Luke Winslow King, Pokey LaFarge and many more. His preferred drink is a well made margarita with salt and real limes - no sour mix here - or a classic Mai Tai. He has an undying love and appreciation for vintage calypso music and mid century modern design.
