Drummer, percussionist, composer, actor and social activist, Ricky “Dirty Red” Gordon’s career has spanned musical genres and definition by working alongside some of the greatest artists in music, TV and film, including Wynton Marsalis, Carolina Slim, Public Enemy, Hubert Sumlin, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, The Allman Brothers Band, Tedeschi Trucks Band and The Fraternal Order Of the Society Blues (a trio to preserve Piedmont Blues).  He has performed on and composed for various television shows, documentaries and films including Brian Averill’s Ghetto Dawgs, Spike Lee’s Red Hook Summer, When The Levees Broke, and Sharp Talk with Reverend Al Sharpton, Da Sweet Blood of Jesus, Kiara Jones' Christmas Wedding Baby and most recently Tiasia Obrien's Black Rose to name a few.  Some of Gordon’s acting credits include playing Lionel Hampton in Spike Lee’s Malcolm X, as well as appearances in the director’s Mo Better Blues and School Daze.
